This place is absolutely outstanding! The food here is exceptional, especially the Thalapakattu Goat Biryani – it’s flavorful, perfectly cooked, and a must-try for anyone who loves authentic biryani. The Non-Veg Thali is another highlight, packed with variety and rich taste in every dish. Not only is the food amazing, but the ambience and hygiene are also top-notch, making the whole dining experience extraordinary. Everything from the service to the atmosphere is well thought out, creating a perfect balance of comfort and quality. Highly recommended – I’ll definitely be coming back!

They nailed the south indian dishes. Being a south Indian and bought up eating dosa and idlies I can attest to it. The non-veg thali also had amazing flavor to all the curries. Recommend to try this place over other places in little india as well. Me and my wife tried this place on a quiet Thursday afternoon. Items Tried: Non-veg Thali: 5/5 Idly Vada: 5/5 Masala Tea: 5/5

I have been coming to Thalaiva’s for several years now. And with every year their service, flavors and quality improves. Being a south Indian, it is usually difficult to find authentic south Indian food in the Chicago neighborhood. But Thalaiva’s is the closest to Madrasi/Kongunadu food. Oh! And their filter coffee is to die for!! Highly recommend! ❤️

Poori was super light and delicious, it was surprising as many restaurants in India also make it heavy. Chicken 65 - perfectly delicious Kothu parotta - could be better

We ordered Talapakathy Biriyani, dosa and parrota salna. Everything was so authentic South Indian taste and yummy. Difficult to find parking. The restaurant is moved to next street from its original google map location. Sukku Malli Kaapi was also like home prepared. The service was so quick.

I grew up in India but never had authentic Kongunadu cuisine before. What a treat! That ginger coffee before the meal, the gobi Manchurian, giant dosa, paniyaram and the mushroom curry. Loved the filter coffee and badam halwa and oh that sizzling fish! Decor is so authentic and service with a smile. @chicagopescetarian

If you are looking for authentic South Indian cuisine in the suburbs, Thalaiva’s Indian Kitchen in Park Ridge is an absolute gem and easily one of the best Indian restaurants around. My recent visit was such a lovely experience from start to finish. The ambience is beautiful and thoughtfully designed with a traditional touch that immediately sets the tone. The space feels warm, inviting, and elegant, with gorgeous plates and charming bells placed around the restaurant that add a unique character to the dining experience. It is one of those places that makes you slow down, enjoy the atmosphere, and already think about your next visit. Our server Akash was exceptional. Attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, he made sure everything came out perfectly and helped make the experience even more memorable. We ordered the restaurant special and I went with the Veg Thali, which was absolutely packed with flavor. Every dish had its own personality, but the porotta was straight fire. Perfectly flaky, buttery, and fresh. We also had the Paneer Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken, both rich, comforting, and beautifully spiced. You can really taste the authenticity and care that goes into the cooking here. And then the desserts were incredible. The Shahi Tukda completely stole the show. This decadent Mughlai dessert, whose name literally means Royal Piece, dates back to the 1600s. It is made with bread fried in ghee until golden and crisp, soaked in fragrant cardamom and saffron syrup, and topped with thick, sweet rabri. The combination of crunchy, syrupy, and creamy textures was absolutely unforgettable. The Gulab Jamun was just as satisfying. Soft, warm, and melt in your mouth delicious. Between the beautiful traditional ambience, stunning presentation, incredible flavors, and outstanding service— Thalaiva’s Indian Kitchen is a place I would highly recommend. If you are craving authentic South Indian flavors in a gorgeous, welcoming setting, this spot should absolute

Has been couple years since I had Indian food and this one does not disappoint. The Marsala is yummy. All the food spices and dippings are very flavorful. They have a decent selection of wine and cocktails. The food comes out pretty quickly.

I visited Thalaivas Indian Kitchen during my Chicago trip, and my stomach still remembers it happily 😂 We tried kothu parotha and parotha with mutton curry, and both were full of flavor. The mutton curry and parotha combo was so good that I forgot I was a tourist for a minute and started eating like it was my hometown spot. Great food, good taste, and definitely worth visiting!!!!!

Got food delivered. This is a Best South indian food I had in or near Chicago! The biryani was very flavorful and tasted like the typical Thalappakatti mutton biryani. The chicken 65 and Nethili fry (first time) were amazing, crunchy and flavorful at the same time. Goat chukka was very rich and flavorful. It was my first time trying Egg kalakki, and it was definitely a tastier version of an omelette. Would love to go back as much as I can!
